New Jersey

On September 26, 2024, Senator Parker Space (R) introduced a bill to repeal the National Popular Vote law (status of S3649). This bill was identical to the bill introduced on January 9, 2024 by Representatives Robert Auth (R), Dawn Fantasia (R), Alex Sauickie (R), and Michael Inganamort (R) (status of A379).

On January 13, 2008, New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine today signed the National Popular Vote Bill into law. New Jersey thus joined Maryland as the second state to enact the bill. The enactment of the legislation in New Jersey came less than 23 months after National Popular Vote held its initial press conference on February 23, 2006.
